This weekend, Hurricane Hone brought severe rain to Hawaii Island causing road closures, downed utility poles and power outages. Some customers on Hawaii Island may be experiencing service interruptions. Our teams are aware and working to restore service as soon as possible.
As we prepare for the next set of storms approaching our islands, we want to share some tips on what to do if your service is impacted.
Stay Informed on Power Restoration
Keep updated with your electric company on the status of power restoration. Please note that many of our products and services require electricity to operate. If power is lost, you won’t have access to these services until it is restored. Below are links to help you quickly restore your Hawaiian Telcom services at home once power is back:
Keep Phone Lines Open
We encourage customers to minimize non-essential calls during severe weather events to keep lines open for emergencies.
We want to ensure that you are well-prepared for any potential disruptions and can stay safe during this time.
Exercise Caution Around Downed Cable Lines
If high winds cause Hawaiian Telcom cables to fall, your service may not be affected unless the cables are severed. For your safety, avoid touching downed lines, as they could be active power lines and dangerous. Moving these lines could also delay restoration efforts.
Report Damaged Cables and Poles
If you see any fallen utility poles or cables, please report them immediately to our 24-Hour Customer Service Center at (808) 643-6111 or chat with us online.
