With the fall weather approaching it's time to curl up on the sofa and binge watch something new. Here are a few shows that are worth checking out. Some of these shows may not be appropriate for all ages so please check your parental control settings and options on these platforms.

Mare of Easttown – This Emmy nominated series stars Oscar winner, Kate Winslet, as a small-town Pennsylvania detective investigating a local murder while trying to keep her own life from falling apart. The series explores the dark side of a close community and provides an authentic examination of how family and past tragedies can define our present. Rated: TV-MA

The White Lotus – Filmed on location in Hawaii, this series is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various employees and guests at an exclusive Hawaiian resort over the span of one highly transformative week. Rated: TV-MA

Made For Love – This dark comedy series stars How I Met Your Mother’s Cristin Milioti, as Hazel Green, a thirty-something woman on the run after 10 years in a suffocating marriage to a controlling tech billionaire. She discovers that her husband has implanted a monitoring device – the Made for Love chip – in her brain, allowing him to track her, watch her, and know her "emotional data" as she tries to regain her independence. Rated: TV-MA


NETFLIX

The Chair - Professor Ji-Yoon Kim, played by Golden Globe award winning, Sandra Oh, is the newly appointed chair of the English department at Pembroke University. As the first woman of color chosen for the position, she attempts to meet the dizzying demands and high expectations of a failing English department while negotiating her personal relationships. Rated: TV-14

Q ForceAn adult animated series about Queer Force (Q-Force), a group of undervalued LGBT superspies. The spies try to prove themselves on personal and professional adventures. Rated: TV-14

Clickbait – When family man Nick Brewer, played by Entourage’s Adrian Grenier, is abducted, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why. The show explores the ways dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fueled in the age of social media, and reveals the ever-widening fractures between virtual and real-life personas. Rated: TV-MA


HULU

Reservation Dogs – This comedy series created by Oscar winning writer, Taika Waiititi, follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California. The show is a notable first in that it features all Indigenous writers and directors, along with an almost entirely Indigenous American cast and production team. Rated: TV-14

The Ultimate Surfer – Dive deep into the world of competitive surfing with this new reality series from 11-time World Surf League champion Kelly Slater. Watch as 14 professional surfers, including 3 from Hawaii, compete for $100,000 and a spot on the 2022 World Surfing League Championship Tour Rated: TV-G

Only Murders in the Building – This mystery-comedy series stars, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as strangers who share an obsession with a true crime podcast. After a murder in their building, the three neighbors decide to start their own show that covers their investigation of the murder. Rated: TV-14


Disney+

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers – This sports-comedy series is based on the 1992 film and follows the journey of 12-year-old Evan Morrow, who after being cut from the now powerhouse Mighty Ducks junior team, forms a new team of loveable underdogs with the help of original Ducks coach, Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez. Rated: TV PG

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. – This show is set is Hawaii and follows Lahela "Doogie" Kameāloha, a teenage wiz-kid doctor, who is trying to juggle her medical career with her high-school life. The series is not a direct continuation of Doogie Howser, M.D.; rather, the show gets “meta” and the characters acknowledge that series as a television show and give Lahela the nickname "Doogie" in reference to it. Rated: TV-G

Marvel’s What If… - This animated series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show what would happen if major moments from the MCU films occurred differently. Featuring the voices of former and current Marvel stars, it is a cornerstone of Phase Four of the MCU. Rated TV-14


AMAZON PRIME

The Wilds - The coming of age story centers around a group of teenage girls who are left stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes on route to Hawaii. The girls are unaware that their plane crash was staged and that they are the subjects of a social experiment. Rated: TV-14

Undone – This adult animation series explores "the elastic nature of reality” through its central character, Alma. After getting into a nearly fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and space and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death. The amination style for this series is unlike anything else with a combination of live action capture and rotoscoping used to give the show its unique look and feel. Rated: TV-14

Leverage: RedemptionThis revival of the hit action-crime TV show Leverage focuses on a group of reformed criminals who put their unique skills to good use by helping ordinary people fight back against corporate and governmental injustices. Rated: TV-14
