Hawaiian Telcom Sponsors Vanta Hawaii Esports League Championships

Hawaiian Telcom was a proud sponsor of the first-ever, in-person Vanta Hawaii Esports League tournament. With over twenty schools statewide participating, the middle and high schoolers wrestled in a two-day tournament featuring games like Super Smash Bros, League of Legends and Rocket League.

Esports is a serious business, with millions of dollars in prize money available at the international level. According to the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), there are over 175 colleges in the United States that offer varsity-level esports programs. 

For fans who couldn't make it to the Hawaii Pacific University Esports Arena in person, the competition was live-streamed on Twitch and televised on 'Ōlelo Hawaii. 

In addition to all the gaming action, the event hosted two lunch-and-learn sessions with speakers from the University of Hawaii and the Honolulu Police Department covering topics like Esports career pathways and Cyberbullying.
