Taking Steps Toward a Greener Future

Written by Hawaiian Telcom | Apr 20, 2023 8:59:31 PM

Happy Earth Month! At Hawaiian Telcom, we're committed to doing our part to protect the planet and our Islands. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in seven years.

By using energy-efficient fiber-optic cables and reducing power used by our legacy copper network, we're taking steps toward a greener future. Not only is fiber better for the environment, it also carries 10,000 times more bandwidth and is more durable. We've invested $160 million in private capital to expand our fiber infrastructure, and now 268,000 homes and businesses in Hawaii have access to Fioptics with ultra-fast symmetrical speeds.

Watch to learn more about our climate action plan from our Director - Sustainability Nadja Turek and join our efforts to go green this Earth Month and take action toward a more sustainable world.
